Essar Recognized with Community Development Award

We are delighted to be the recipient of the 2010 Community Development Award.
This award recognizes projects that show significant achievement in community development, highlights successful development ideas, and inspires others to meet higher standards.

For Essar Steel Algoma it goes beyond the actual award; this honour highlights a key piece of our commitment to the Sault Ste Marie community.

Essar's "Greening Algoma" initiative has garnered accolades from employees, neighbours, customers and beautification authorities near and far, and although the aesthetic benefits are obvious, the real return can be found in the environmental impact. Industrial landscaping, including the construction of wind berms, the planting of trees, grass and gardens, the erection of sound barriers, and the paving of roadways and parking lots all serve to greatly reduce particulate emissions and noise pollution in our community.
